Frequently Asked Questions
Here you can find answers to commonly asked questions about naturopathic practices, services, and expectations. This resource is designed to help you understand how I can support your journey to better health and what you can expect when you choose to work with me.
Understanding Naturopathy
-
Naturopathy is a holistic approach to health that combines natural therapies with modern science to treat both acute and chronic conditions. It focuses on healing the whole person - body, mind, and spirit - and emphasises prevention and self-care.
-
While conventional medicine often focuses on treating symptoms, naturopathy aims to identify and treat the root causes of illness. I use natural therapies to support and stimulate the body's ability to heal itself.
-
Yes, when practised by a qualified and experienced practitioner like myself, naturopathy is very safe. I use evidence-based treatments and adjust therapies to suit individual needs and conditions.
Services and Treatments
-
I specialise in gut health and autoimmune conditions, treating issues like IBS, SIBO, Crohn's Disease, and more. However, my practice is equipped to address a wide range of health issues, including but not limited to skin conditions, genitourinary disorders, and chronic fatigue.
-
My treatments include dietary counselling, herbal medicine, supplemental nutrients, lifestyle adjustments, and functional testing. Each treatment plan is personalised to address the specific needs and goals of the client.
-
Absolutely. I often work in conjunction with other healthcare providers to ensure a comprehensive and coordinated approach to your health.
Appointments and Consultations
-
Your first appointment involves a thorough health assessment where I'll ask about your medical history, lifestyle, and any current symptoms. This helps me understand your health holistically and guide the development of your personalised treatment plan.
-
The initial consultation typically lasts about 60 to 90 minutes. Follow-up consultations usually last 30 to 60 minutes, depending on the complexity of the issues being addressed.
-
Yes, I offer telehealth services for clients who are unable to visit the clinic in person. This ensures you can continue your treatment plan without interruption, no matter where you are.
Cost and Insurance
-
Costs vary depending on the type of consultation and treatment plan. Please contact the clinic directly for detailed pricing information or visit my online booking page to view appointment types and prices.
-
Some health insurance plans cover naturopathic services. I recommend checking with your private health insurance provider to understand what is covered under your plan.
General Questions
-
The frequency of visits varies depending on your individual health needs and the nature of your treatment plan. This can be discussed in more detail during your initial consultation.
-
The time it takes to see results can vary significantly depending on the underlying cause of the condition being treated, how long you have had the condition, how well you stick to the treatment plan and recommendations, and individual responses to treatment. Generally, clients begin to notice improvements within a few weeks.
-
Please bring any relevant medical records - these include blood tests taken in the last 6 months, specialised testing such as colonoscopy results, mri’s and so on & a list of any medications or supplements you are currently taking. It is very helpful if you can list the brand, the name, how much and how often you take it, when you first began taking it, what you are taking it for. If emailing results to me, please save the documents as PDF's and label them with the date they were taken and what they are and your name.
-
No. They are not required for the consultation to go ahead, or for it to be valuable. These can be gathered when and if you are able to.
Additional Support
-
If you have a question that only requires a yes or no answer regarding a supplement or food for example, you can email that through to me and when I get time between clients I will answer.
In depth health related questions or questions that require in depth answers or relate to test results must be answered during a consultation.
If you are unable to wait for your next appointment you can book in a 30 minute short consultation in between appointments or pay for a 30 minute email consultation.
